About this blog
Greetings! I am an MBA student at the University of Southern California’s Marshall School of Business, where I am studying Entrepreneurship and Venture Management.
This blog is dedicated to all things entrepreneurship. Although I personally have an interest in internet focused businesses, I feel that the same lessons can be applied to both the brick and mortar and online arenas. In fact, it is refreshing for me to find that new opportunities continue to be created in mature industries with established competitors. Too often, people in the electronic medium are focused on inventing something completely different. While this is a great challenge that can reap tremendous rewards, most successful new businesses are based on a differentiator, where the business targets a market niche. This allows the company to capture some market share by providing a more compelling product or service to a portion of the market. In essence, the entrepreneur has provided something that more perfectly matches what these consumers are looking for. Since consumer tastes, technology, and the competitive landscape is constantly changing, these opportunities can be created at any time. This is why entrepreneurial opportunities will always exist, and it is up to each of us to keep our eyes open for when they reveal them selfs.
I would love to hear from you. Send your questions to ryan@dailyslop.com.
